  2. Situation It is Autumn 1925. As a new reporter for a local newspaper, you have been sent on your first assignment to Egypt to accompany Howard Carter as he begins to excavate his world famous discovery: King Tutankhamun’s tomb. You must capture the important details and discoveries from his journey into the depths of the Egyptian Pharaoh’s tomb. You will use the details you uncover to write a newsworthy article for your newspaper.

  3. Preparation Before you meet Howard Carter, you must dig up background information about the events that led up to his monumental discovery. You will make a timeline to record these important events. You will use either the Inspiration timeline template or flow chart template as directed by your teacher. Follow the Timeline checklist and rubric!

  10. The Body • An official witness: an account given by an authoritative person at the scene • (e.g. A policeman, or a professor, or an archaeologist as the case may be.
