  1. Take five minutes… • Using your preferred resource for nursing literature, find an article of interest to you in your clinical practice.

  2. Finding the EvidenceEBP Resources at the Graff Library

Today’s Learning Objectives • Recognize PubMed (MEDLINE), CINAHL, Cochrane, and NGC as key resources relevant to nursing in order to locate evidence for clinical practice protocols and guidelines; • Construct a simple, effective search strategy, using Boolean operators and synonyms, in order to use the resources effectively; and • Find the full text of articles located in a database, whether that full text is located online, physically at the Graff Library or must be ordered through interlibrary loan or document delivery in order to complete their protocol.

  4. Sample Question • What published evidence exists for post-operative patient education for prostate cancer?

  5. Answer the following questions: • What strategy did you use? • How would you use this resource to identify evidence? • Can you get the article full-text or online? • Is there a feature that you particularly liked or disliked? • Can you think of other uses outside of the development of guidelines and protocols?
