Miller (CIRA), William Straka, III (CIMSS), and Donald Pettit (NASA-JSC) • The Suomi VIIRS Day/Night Band provides a unique view of global nighttime light emissions. • International Space Station astronaut photography offers high spatial resolution and color context to diverse scenes. • This talk considers some ways in which the two platforms may be used in synergy: • Comparisons of anthropogenic lights, including bridges, ships and gas flares • Aurora motion via ISS movies help explain structure of DNB scanned imagery • ISS nightglow observations (IMAP/VISI) corroborating space/time matched DNB 94th AMS Annual Meeting - Atlanta, GA
