  4. Focal points What Shots? A crow circled high above the shadows of the forest with its black wings beating. The dark trees stood out against the moon-washed sky, their branches reaching out into the night. From out of the darkness a figure emerged, a tiny speck against the dark of the forest. As the figure drew nearer, white clouds of breath rose into the darkness, and a faint rasping sound could be heard through the whisper of the night breeze. An owl’s cry echoed through the forest. Bird’s eye view – as if from point of view of crow Sound effect – slo-mo sound of wings - loud Establishing shot – view of forest from ground level Medium shot of shadow – then close up of shoe Darkness – just use sound of breathing – suspense! Establishing shot again – screech of owl rings out

  5. Focal points Reveal Shots Storyboard example? Plan the shots For your storyboard High angle view of boots A pair of dark, heavy boots came into view then, slowly, the rest of the looming figure, its face partly hidden by shadow. When the face came into the moonlight, the cold eyes glinted in the moonlight like shards of ice. “It is time,” the man whispered. His face was lit. When he looked up he could see…. Low angle view of dark face Extreme close up of eyes Close up of face Camera moves out to medium shot as it looks up

  6. Action/Camera Frame Sound A crow circles high in the air – establishing shot. Slo-mo sound effect of wings beating. The dark trees stand out. Establishing shot from low angle. Natural sounds – bird cry. Sound of breathing. A figure emerges – medium shot from a high angle. As above Close-up of shoe
