  26. The Craig O’Connor Award The Craig O’Connor Award is presented annually to the graduating 12-year old softball player. This award is named in honor of Craig O’Connor, a local Morristown lawyer and former town prosecutor who with his wife Marily, started the Softball program for MNLL in the late 1980’s. At the time softball was handled by the town’s rec dept. without much structure or competition. The O’Connor’s daughter was looking for something more. Thru hard work and a lot of phone calls, MNLL Softball was a reality. Craig was named the commissioner for District 1 Softball as Morristown National was the first league to have a LL Softball program. This drive and dedication is what fuels of league today. The recipient of this award is the poster child of what The O’ Connor’s vision of a MNLL Softball players should represent. A leader on and off the field, someone vested in the MNLL program and a person who in future years will help give back to the program.

  27. The Tommy Mischiara Sportsmanship Trophy The Tommy Mischiara Sportsmanship Memorial Trophy was established in 1958. Tommy Mischiara was the inspiration for his father SarMischiara (league president from 1955 to 1967) to get a group of local businessmen together and start Morristown National Little League in the spring of 1951. Tommy was the 1st standout player to show his leadership and talent at Dempsey Roff Field (later known as Burnham Park). Tommy died in an unfortunate accident at his home in Morristown at a very young age. For over 60 years this award has been presented annually to the graduating Little Leaguer who has demonstrated the highest qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, attitude and ability both on and off the field. This young man will join a fraternity of proud MNLL ball players that hold this honor as a great accomplishment in their lives. Past winners have written college essays about what it meant to receive this award and have listed this accomplishment on work resumes and LinkedIn profiles. Past winners still involved in MNLL today include Bill Champi (1983), Shane Smith (1985), Ryan Brunnock & Patrick Murphy (2007) and Chase Champi (2011).
