  2. How can NAHQ help you achieve the most impact with the resources you’ve got available?

  3. We’ll Discuss • Website • Email • Social Media • Promotion Options

  4. Website Practices

  5. Website Practices • Repurpose content you’ve already written for your newsletters, emails, etc. • Commit to updating on a regular basis - even once per month is enough • For your visitors to feel confident about your content, add dates. Refer to NAHQ’s What’s New page: http://www.nahq.org/whatsnew.html

  6. Website Practices • Improve your SEO (search engine optimization) • Use ALT tagging • Add as many external links as you can. If you need to add external links, start with: • NAHQ.org • JHQ Online- http://www.wiley.com/bw/journal.asp?ref=1062-2551 • NAHQ Facebook – www.facebook.com/mynahq • NAHQ LinkedIn • Put content on a page- don’t just post a PDF or word document. It’s not searchable!

  7. Website Practices • Use analytics to help you learn about what’s happening on your site. NAHQ uses Google Analytics • 15 free analytics tools to consider: http://slodive.com/freebies/website-analytics-tools/ • What should you look at? • Overall number of site visitors • Where are they coming to your site from? • What are they searching for in your search box?

  8. Social Media

  9. Social Media • Consider ‘why’ when thinking about ‘where’ • Facebook • Good for getting info out, sharing information • Not proving to be very interactive • Many hospitals block Facebook at work • LinkedIn • Good for creating a community. Grows quickly. Hospitals usually allow access • Not easy to post events if it’s not already out on a website

  10. Social Media • Yes, it is free and easy, but it does cost you time! • Repurpose content- yours and NAHQ’s • Post your events to NAHQ’s Facebook page • Be Aware: Facebook’s Timeline format will be implemented for groups on March 30, 2012.

  11. Email & Newsletters

  12. Email & Newsletters • Be consistent. It helps people recognize and trust its coming from you. Consider • Your look • Your layout • Subject lines • Develop a simple schedule • Repurpose content when possible

  13. Email & Newsletters • Repurpose content when possible • Utilize: • NAHQ e-news articles (with permission from editor - e-news@nahq.org) • Promote the next JHQ issue- free CE article, choose an article you find interesting • Check the NAHQ What’s New page for the most updated content

  14. Promotional Opportunities • NAHQ offers ways to promote your organization and your events • Post on the Quality Events Calendar • States get one free event posting each year • Only $25 per additional event after that- very affordable! • Submit items to NAHQ e-news
