  2. MEDICATION ERRORS • Will seriously injure or kill 1.5 million people this year (1 out of every 200) • Medication problems are the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. • Most of these are preventable

  6. WHY TAKE YOUR MEDICINE? • Medication “non-adherence” leads to: • Compromised disease management • Acute illness • Chronic illness • More emergency room visits • More hospitalizations • More death (up to 41% relative risk ) • Higher costs ($290,000,000,000 / year)
