  4. How to Wash Your Hands Let’s learn how to wash our hands! • Be sure to use warm water when you wash • Make sure you have some soap! • Work up a soapy lather and scrub both sides of your hands, wrists, between fingers and around nails. • Sing the “Happy Birthday” song two times while washing, and once you finish the second time, you will be all done washing!

  5. Brushing Your Teeth Properly You should always brush your teeth twice a day! • Brush for 2 minutes. You can set a timer or play a song to help you know when to stop. • Always brush your tongue! • Make sure to brush every tooth! • Floss between each tooth once a day to get the food your toothbrush can’t get!

  6. Eating Healthy Eating healthy is a very important part of staying healthy! To stay healthy, you should eat food from these categories: • Fruit • Vegetables • Grains (things like bread and cereal) • Protein (meat, beans, fish, nuts) • Milk and dairy products Even though junk food tastes good, you shouldn’t eat very much of it!

  7. Exercise Exercise is fun! To stay healthy, try to exercise everyday. Good ways to exercise are: • Riding your bike • Playing sports like basketball, soccer, football • Dancing • Rollerblading • Jumprope • Hopscotch

  8. Being Safe in the Sun It’s always a blast to play outside in the sun, but remember these important things! • Always wear sunscreen (especially from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, when the sun is the brightest) • Take breaks, and go relax the shade or inside. • Drink lots of water!

  9. Basic Safety Do you know your phone number and address? Make sure you ask your mom and dad to help you memorize them! If you ever get lost, you can use a phone to call them, or tell a police officer and they can help you get home! Make sure you never wander away from your mom or dad in public, that way you won’t get lost!

  10. Crossing the Street Safely The street can be very dangerous, so you must always follow these rules: • Never cross the street without an adult • Always look both ways (Look left, right, then left again) • Always use a crosswalk when crossing!
