  2. Background Information • Needs Assessment Study • Conducted in 2000-2002 • Provided relevant information on how to better serve Montréal’s culturally diverse population.

  3. Objectives • To determine the needs of the people diagnosed with ADRD and their caregivers within a cultural context • To determine the needs of health and social service providers so that they could access their clients’ needs.

NAS Implemented in 3 Phases Phase I 212 People with ADRD and their Caregivers in Cultural communities • Criteria… • With the highest percentage of overall population • With the highest percentage of elderly people • Language spoken • Cultural Communities • French, English, Jewish Ashkenazi, Italian, Haitian

  5. NAS Implemented in 3 Phases • Phase III • 430 healthcare • providers… • 51 agencies PHASE II (Redesigned) Caregivers from Cultural Communities: • Greek • Jewish Sephardic • Slavic • Arabic • Chinese • Spanish • English speaking Caribbean community

  6. Needs assessment study also inspired a strategic planning process that led the ASM to redefine the respective roles of our professional counselors
