  2. The Economist has based its verdict on many factors such as the growth of a GNP which is faster and more stable than the rest of the world. Whereas the population growth in Asia is gradually declining, Africa is expected to double within the next 50 years and the middle class is expected to triple in the next 30 years. Ten years ago, the magazine The Economist wrote that Africa was “hopeless”. In its December edition, they declared, loud and clear: Africa is booming.
  3. THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK If recent trends continue, Africa will play an increasingly important role in the global economy. By 2040, the continent will be home to the world’s largest working-age population. The AfDB’s private sector operations cover a broad range.
