HR WEB PAGE ACCOMMODATION WHAT HR IS DOING NOW • Testing all HR web pages with several “test programs” for compliance. • Meeting with the “owners” of all HR web pages to reach a compromise on format and content. • Revising pages to meet the compromise. • Retesting pages. • “Certifying” the pages ( ) as they are made compliant. • We must recognize that all accommodation is not possible.

  4. HR WEB PAGE ACCOMMODATION PRIMARY LIMITATION TO COMPLIANCE Accessibility is determined by whether or not a diverse group of people with a variety of abilities and disabilities can access information efficiently. “Compliance” is just one step in helping to make web pages more accessible, but cannot guarantee total accessibility (complex graphics, mobile demonstrations, etc.).

  7. HR WEB PAGE ACCOMMODATION ABOUT HR PAGE COMPLIANCE Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is committed to providing equal access to information contained on its web pages. HRIS endorses the guidelines of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as the standard for World Wide Web accessibility, and notifies users of its compliance with those standards through the placement of this icon. Clicking on it will bring the user to this page, which describes the specific standards met by the referring page. HRIS is also dedicated to ensuring its web pages are compliant with U.S. Section 508 Guidelines. Section 508 was an amendment made to the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1998. This amendment requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. While the U.S. Section 508 Guidelines do not currently require universities to make their websites accessible, they are in the spirit of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and the two will usually be met simultaneously. This page will also indicate U.S. Section 508 compliance.
