  2. introduction • Today I'm going to be explaining why the Internet relies on a number of protocols in order to function properly. • A protocol is simply a standard for enabling the connection, communication, and data transfer between two places on a network. Here are some of the key protocols that are used for transferring data across the Internet.

  3. Web page construction HTML short for (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) Web pages are written in so that they can be recognised by all browsers. Even if they are created using a site or using a blog or even programs such as dreamwaver or iweb. Behind all of the programs and blogs it is html making it all work. It is a programming language that allows browsers to read a standardised form of each page across the world wherever it is from. html is the programming language that is allowing all of the programs and blogs to work because it allow the browsers to read the standardised form of each page across the world wide web where ever it is from.

  4. Web & internet • the internet is the connection made that are made between all the servers and computers across the world. information travels across these through a variety of languages known as protocols , every web page made has a name attached to it which is unique and its known as a URL (uniform resource Locator) , it has to start with http://  which stand for the hyper text transfer protocol . this is how computer communicate with each other. • all the pages through the world are linked through hyper link . • so it can be recognized by browsers such as Google , Safari  and Firefox and many more are also available. 

  5. header • a header is usually the name or logo of the website and some times even slogans for e.g.. "Nike just do it" , the header will also contain some menu links that are link to other parts of the page , it will also have sidebars and different colors on the website, the webpage it self will contain secondary menu links.

  6. menu • the menu is the navigation for your website, it can be place is different positions on the website . • content • the content is the main part of the page because , it will be different all pages of the website unlike the header and footer it will always remain the same, • the footer is at the bottom of the page it contains copy rights to the page and legal agreements , this will appear on every page on the web.

  7. text • text is one of the simplest information you can put onto a website , and it is supported by every browser in the world no matter how old or new it is , it downloads in seconds , its the most flexible and reliable way to present contents online. you can read text in any environment because you don't need any plugins to read a text. • its important to not import copied and paste texts from other sites on to your because it will have the associated code all the way through it and that will cause problems with the browser. • its also important to check spelling and grammar because if your working for a company you have to be aware the British and Americans have different spellings from each other.

  8. color • color is very important on webpages , people use colors to attract the viewers ,  • there will be standardized colors set on the computer , there are million of colors and there are specific codes for those colors. • A website will need a color scheme, that looks good and works with the website all together with the images and text.

  9. images • There are three file types for images in websites are JPEG, PNG and GIF. • JPEG are most suitable for photographic images that uses lots of colours. When preparing images for the web you would choose how much compression you can use without the deterioration of that image. In photoshopyou can compare the compressed and the original. • PNG format was originally meant to replace the GIF but is not always supported by all browsers on the web. It is a lossless method of compression which results in a good looking graphic with a small file size. • GIF is a file format that saves the file using 256 8-bit and it is compatible with all browsers on the web. Suitable for large areas of solid colour such as logos or buttons and can also work on banners with text. • Vector images cannot be used in browsers so all of these are bitmap images, all photos used in websites must be saved as a bitmap type of file to be used online. It is important when preparing images to work with the best type of file for your image.

  10. TABLES • Tables are mostly for specific types of information such as spread sheets or listing information. • People used to construct whole websites using tables and plan all the site before hand, so it could use them but these days they are better as part of a site rather than building the whole site. • Cells would also be used then be merged to make a header and split to make columns etc. There would also be tables within tables to give more interactivity to the site.

  11. HYPERLINKS • A hyperlink is programme to command “go to another page”. Every webpage has many hyperlinks that send’s you to a picture, video or another related webpage. When you hover over a hyperlink your pointer will change. Hyperlinks are often adverts or underlined words or images. • That’s how you’ll you if it’s a hyper link.

  12. TERMINOLOGY PHP is used by the server of your website to carry out the more complicated operations and then display on your site visitor’s computer. An example is of this is having member logins on your site. • is File Transfer Protocol and is the standard for how files are transferred from place to place over a transmission control protocol network such as the internet. To transfer files with File Transfer Protocol. connection to a remote computer running FTP server software.

  13. HTML and XHTML • HTML5 is the most up to date marked up language (syntax) used by designers to build WebPages. It is an updated version of html which is the foundation of web designs. • it defines the structure & content of webpages, it provides a basic framework on all kinds of web elements that are shared on the web. We use html to place all the elements onto the pages on the web. • if you know how to write html then you have all the control and aspects over your website and can make any changes that need making. • XHTML is a stricter version of html and gives you control over all aspects of a website. You can not make any mistakes and has to be perfect. Where as HTML will probably load even with a slight mistake and browsers will allow the slight errors.

  14. CSSCSS stands for cascading style sheets. • CSS is designed to show the separation’s of a document content usually written in HTML or a markup language from document presentations, which haselements such as the colors, layouts and also fonts. • CSS coding controls the animation and transitions, such as 2D and 3D images, backgrounds, borders, RGBacolours, Gradients, Box and text shadows. • It styles multi-column layouts, media queries how sites will look on ipads, mobile phones and so on. These styles are applied using rules, so that you can apply the same style to every page and have a website that is consistent and professional.
