  1. Bellwork 8/18/2014 • On Monday of the bellwork sheet, write your response to the following: • Write down three details you remember from Inside Out and Back Again. (If you have to ask what that is, you missed something important last week…) • The first four who are done – come see me.

  2. Review: Pre-Assessment • Most missed questions: 2 & 5. • These questions asked you to differentiate the major ideas from their supporting minor ideas. • This is a major component of overall comprehension.

  3. What’s the Difference? • Major ideas are mentioned MULTIPLE times, starting in paragraph one and usually running continuously throughout. • Typically, minor ideas appear only once (or twice) and are found within the body of the text. They may reappear in the conclusion of an argument/persuasive piece.

  4. Gallery Walk • Review the anchor charts from both your group and write down anything new on your sticky note. • Return to your group. • Prepare for a section test. • FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

  5. Open Book test • You will need a sheet of your own paper, a copy of the poems, and the test. • You will read the poems as a group (see which ones are in the questions) and then answer the questions. • The focus for this test is on the standards on the board – inference, context clues, discussion, plot analysis, and CITING TEXT-BASED EVIDENCE. • Please read the instructions carefully and complete the questions in the packet. • This test is due in 25 min

  6. Analyzing for Meaning • Read pages 12 to 29. At the end of each poem, write a summary of the poem. Items to cover: • What is the theme? Provide textual evidence. • What does this poem tell you about Ha?
