NDBX concept / Arinc424-A • Since 2006, a technical group formed inside AEEC has been studying the feasibility to define and standardize an open source format for embedded navigation databases => NDBX • based on the content of Arinc424 v.19 but restricted to FMS perimeter • relying on a new UML model and on XML & Binary XML representation of the data • In 2008, the decision was taken by the AEEC to merge the existing Arinc424 specification and the NDBX standard => Arinc424-A ARINC 424A specification and SESAR WP9.31

Eurocontrol’s involvement in Arinc424A • 2006-2007: Eurocontrol participated in the initial NDBX committee and shared AIXM experience with the group • 2007-2009: A Business Rules Working Group was formed inside the NDBX Committee, led by Eurocontrol and tasked with the development of an initial set of validation rules. • 2010-2012: Eurocontrol continues to support the development of the A424A specification through its contribution to SESAR project 9.31.
