  2. Goals for Today • Introduce the concept of PDS and where our partnership is in the process of ‘partnering’ • Introduce charge of the coordinating council as governing body and encourage membership • Collect needs-based assessment data for future planning

  3. What is a PDS? Defined by MSDE, a Professional Development School (PDS) is a collaboratively planned and implemented partnership for the academic preparation of interns and the continuous development of both school system and institution of higher education faculty. The focus of the PDS partnership is improved student performance through research-based teaching and learning.

What Has Occurred Thus Far in Our Partnering Efforts? • MOU has been signed • Liaison and Site Coordinator have been appointed and trained • Five interns will be placed at USA High this fall • An estimated 5interns will join ranks of faculty in the spring • Strategies to support school improvement efforts have been identified

  7. What’s Next? • Distribution and analysis of needs-based assessment data to support teacher development and school improvement efforts • Establishment of a Coordinating Council as governing body

What is the Charge of the Coordinating Council? • To plan and evaluate the quality of the internship experience for interns and mentors at WHS • To plan and evaluate the reciprocal professional development that occurs within the partnership • To connect PDS goals to school improvement efforts Who’s in????
