  2. About Me… • 5th year here at Salem Middle School • First Year Teaching 6th Grade  • 7th year in Wake County • 11th year as a teacher • Spent 4 years in Kissimmee, Florida prior to moving to NC

  3. About me… • Originally from Central Pennsylvania • Outside of school I enjoy reading, cooking, aviation, traveling, the beach, Disney World

  8. Grading Policy • Formative assessments will appear on progress reports • Homework- A 1 means assignment was done on-time • Homework- A 0 means assignment was not done on-time • Quick Checks will be assigned points

  9. Preparing for Assessments • Study guides will be completed in class for tests. • For all quizzes and tests, students should study notes and handouts glued into the ILL. I will provide ILL page numbers for students to study. • Assessments are cumulative. • Students should study notes nightly.

  10. Assessment Feedback • Quizzes are usually handed back within 1-2 days • Tests, essays, and projects take a few days to provide feedback. • Please check HomeBase often for grade updates, but please allow us a few days to get grades updated!

  11. Assessment Reworks • If a student earns less than a 77% on a test or quiz, they may rework the assignment. • Reworks can be completed during Spartan Time or working lunch

  12. Assessment Reworks • Reworks must be completed within 5 days of being handed back • Highest grade earned is a 77%.

  13. North Carolina Final Exams (NCFE) • Administered during EOG week • Around 40 multiple choice questions • Science & SS is assessed

  14. Progress Reports • These will be sent home tomorrow! • Please sign and return by Friday! 

  15. Volunteering • If you are interested in volunteering at any point this year, please sign-up in the Media Center. • We will need volunteers for our field trips this year!
