EUROLAB in Brief • EUROLAB – was set up in Brussels on 27 April 1990 • Composed of 25 national associations all over the World • Grouping over 2,000 conformity assessment bodies representing over 100,000 technical experts and laboratory practitioners. • 85 % represented labs accredited Global Market Development Prognosis: The global market for Testing Laboratories is forecast to reach $77 billion by the year 2017. EUROLAB –Driving Forces • The internationalisation and globalisation process forcing EUROLAB to be much more active in the international arena; • The organisation and political changes induced by European New Legislative Framework for Goods; • The integration of new EU member countries; • The changing market situation requiring more attention to be paid to customer of laboratories relationships, and development of new or improved services; • The need to improve the technical competence and infrastructure of measurement, testing and analytical services in order to make the innovation process more effective; • The increase emphasis on sustainable development, environmental issues and improved reliability and safety; • The possibility to create or make use of novel R&D results(risk and conformity assessment for industry, economies and public authorities)

  13. 9 EUROLAB Priorities • Enhance quality and safety through Laboratory and Conformity assessment and promote competitiveness of industry • Promote EUROLAB as THE Network of the laboratories in EUROPE • Co-operation with EU/International Institutions and Organisations • Improve the Membership Services for laboratories • Promote technical work aimed at higher objectivity and multicisciplinarity • Support EUROLAB committees • Development of EUROLAB membership • Organisation of EUROLAB Seminars/Workshops and • participation in International Conferences • 9. Increase EUROLAB’s visibility
