Some of what I’ve been doing … BaBar tau physics … • Continued analysis (with Christina) of  -  p-p-p+p0p0n in BaBar data • but mainly waiting for someone else to measure efficiency corrections for p0p0 • Work (with Mitch) on fitting on  -  p-p0n • least well known, hadronic correction for muon g – 2 • Studies (with Kim) of p0 efficiency corrections for BaBar • very important to reduce dominant contributions to systematic errors from p0 • Started (with Graham and Dave) involvement in -  p-/K-hn in BaBar data • complementary to other second-class current searches • Grateful to Nick for working with Ming on B  J/ypp • Talk on “Tau physics at the B factories,” at Charm 2006, Beijing • Talk on “Lepton flavour violation and baryon number non-conservation in     h,” at Tau 2006, Pisa • Article on lepton-flavor violation at BaBar in SLAC Today

Some else of what I’ve been doing … management, admin … • UK Spokesman for BaBar (until 1 September) • Co-Convenor of BaBar Tau/QED Physics Analysis Group • Chair BaBar search committee for physics analysis coordinator • Lots of AWG and review committee work on BaBar tau papers • Chair of LHC Exploitation Planning Review (PPARC) • Chair of LHC M&O Scrutiny Group (CERN committee reporting to RRB) • Plus lots of School of Physics responsibilities …

  5. Outlook • BaBar so far has 390 fb - 1 • The expected final dataset is ~ 1 ab - 1 • Recent improvements in muon detection, and ongoing work to reduce many systematic errors • Potential for significant improvements in tau analyses • Important to probe physics that will be inaccessible at LHC, particularly LFV in tau decays • Specifically … • Finish work (with Kim) on p0 efficiency corrections for BaBar • Complete and publish the analysis of  -  p-p-p+p0p0n
