  3. Third person –a point of view that does not include an author, does not use the word “I”

  4. Style – How the author writes rather than what the author writes.

  5. Author’s Craft – The style, tone and mood a writer uses to convey a message in writing.

  6. Connotative Meaning – All the emotions or feelings a word can make the reader feel.

  7. Conversation: informal interchange of thoughts, information, etc., by spoken words; oral communication between persons; talk; colloquy. Denotative Meaning – The dictionary meaning of a word.

  8. Dialogue – The written conversation between two or more characters.

  9. Outline – A shortened form of a selection in which details and ideas are listed in order.

  10. Flashback – Returning to an earlier time in the setting for the purpose of making something clearer in the present.

  11. Symbolism – The use of a concrete object to represent an idea.
