  1. A New view on P violation problem Vasily Dzhordzhadze P/CP Group Meeting, BNL February 19, 2009 1

  2. Hypothesis • Checking Event Plane distribution over centralities 2

  3. Centrality Distribution 3 3

  4. Event Plane Distribution (all events) 4 4

  5. Event Plane Distribution (centralities 2,3,4 5) 5 5

  6. Event Plane Distribution (centralities 6,7,8,9) 6 6

  7. Event Plane Distribution (centralities 2-9) 7 7

  8. Event Plane Distribution normalized (centralities 2-9) 8 8

  9. Event Plane Distribution (centralities 2,3,8,9) 9 9

  10. Event Plane Distribution 10 10

  11. Summary • Event Plane distribution for different centralities are different, which reflects different detection efficiencies at different centralities -> EP efficiency varies with centrality and variation is significant! • The correlation parameter calculation is not correct if efficiencies are varying with centralities 11
