  • These verbs are in the same family because they are conjugated the same way.

    • Conjugate is an important word here. What does it mean?

    • To conjugate means to change the verb so that it agrees with the subject.

    • English verbs are also conjugated, but not so elaborately.

Les verbes er2

les verbes -er

  • Today you are learning how to conjugate all –er verbs. This opens a world of linguistic opportunity. Now you can make sentences.

Les verbes er3

les verbes -er

Here it goes…

First, drop the –er at the end of the infinitive. This is called the stem.

For example, aimer becomes aim, jouer becomes jou. Then, write the endings.

Notice that the endings change. The stem stays the same.
