  1. T4TLA Community of Practice, Session 2Collaborative Inquiry Around Implementation of T4T StrategiesMay 13, 2019

  2. Collaborative Inquiry is a process where a team (or an individual) receives coaching around a challenge identified through reflective dialogue with another team or individual. Through this experience, people typically gain a clearer understanding of a problem or challenge, with new ideas and insights to consider in addressing the issue. • Today’s Collaborative Inquiry will focus on the Implementation of T4T Strategies as identified by teams. Introduction: Purpose of the T4TLA CoP

  3. Collaborative Inquiry: Tone and Tenor • Collaborative Inquiry is an opportunity to utilize a Consultancy Protocol in ways that: • Honor and respect the challenges teams identify and where they are in their work • Provide an opportunity for teams to support one another • Demonstrate positive intentions and active listening to help another person or team solve a critical problem or challenge. • Pose questions and challenge ideas to help a team clarify the stated problem and identify potential solutions to address the challenges it presents

  4. Consultancy Protocol Overview • Consultancy Protocol 1. Teams or individuals pair up with one another and decide which team presents first and second. • 2. The presenting team describes a problem/challenge and any concerns or questions they have while the inquiry team listens and takes notes. When the first team finishes, the inquiry team asks clarifying questions to achieve clarity about the problem or challenge. • 3. In a dialogue mode, the inquiry team raises further questions and/or insights based on the identified challenge. (The presenting team takes notes but does not engage in this dialogue.)

  5. Consultancy Protocol Overview, continued • 4. The presenting team responds to the dialogue heard while the inquiry team listens. The presenting team and inquiry team then engage in a dialogue about the ideas that have been placed on the table. Focus must remain on the challenge identified. • 5. The presenting team reflects aloud on the dialogue and shares any new insights or ideas that may further inform their challenge or task. • 6. Members of presenting team reflect on what was most useful and what could have been more useful about the Collaborative Inquiry Process. • The paired teams then switch roles and repeat the process.
