  4. School Counselor's Role • Write a counselor letter of recommendation • Send Transcripts and letters of recommendations • Mid-Year and Final Transcripts • Be a resource for you… Communicate with your Counselor! • Private College Counseling Service - Keep us in the loop

  7. County College of Morris • Instant decision day • Take SAT. This can help determine if you need to take Accuplacer • Take Accuplacer Trade Schools

What should already be completed... • Taken SAT/ACT • Building a College List • Turned in Student and Parent Brag sheet to counselor • Asked 2 teachers for letters of recommendations • Provided teacher with information they need to write the letter of recommendation • Put the request for teacher letter of recommendation in Naviance

Student’s To Do List • Finalize your college list • College Lunch Visits- Register through Naviance • Submit your Common, Coalition, or Institutionally based application • Don’t wait for the deadline! • Submit your test scores … ASAP! • ACT- ACTstudent.org • SAT- Collegeboard.org • Submit your yellow Request for Transcripts form to your School Counselor • Minimum of 2 weeks before deadline • A Request for Transcript form is required for each school you apply to!

  10. Student’s To Do List (continued) • Update your naviance account by adding the colleges you are applying to • Complete FERPA waiver on Common Application • Complete “Matching” in Naviance • Complete Essay and any Supplements needed • Communicate with College Admissions Office when necessary

Financial Aid • FAFSA: Free Application For Student Aid • www.fafsa.gov • Available on October 1st • Parents and Students need to create individual FAFSA IDs • Presentation at RHS on September 24th • CSS Profile: • www.collegeboard.org • Available on October 1st • Required by almost 400 schools/programs • Considered a required part of student’s application
