The USC Digital Repository (USCDR) • Approved by the Provost in summer 2010 • A partnership among the USC Libraries, USC Information Technology Services, and the USC Shoah Foundation Institute • An infrastructure that provides access to digitized or born-digital collections that enable access, encourages research, and generates revenue • Connected to HPCC super-computer—5th fastest in the world

  4. Digitization • Automatic and mass digitization systems for audio/video, paper and still images. • Local and remote digital file ingest systems used to bring already digitized files into the preservation and access systems from anywhere in the world. • Quality assurance systems for all content

  5. Cataloging • Patented cataloging and indexing system can be applied to almost any data set. • Managed infrastructure for manual indexing.

  6. Digital preservation • 40 Petabyte capacity (only 8 Petabytes used) • SHA-1 based fixity for all files. • Automatic media retirement based on age.
