  2. What is Title I? Title I is a federal assistance program for schools. It provides extra funding and support to help students, teachers and families work together, so students can be successful. All Title I schools in Pender County are “Schoolwide” Title I Schools. This means funding is used for the benefit of ALL students.

Families in Title I Schools have rights… • You have the right to • Know how your child is progressing throughout the year • Know how your school compares to other schools in Pender County and in North Carolina • Have input on the school’s compact and parent involvement policy • Request information about the qualifications of your child’s teachers • Be engaged in educational decisions that affect your child • Offer your opinions about school programs by serving on the School Improvement Team, Parent Advisory Council and by responding to surveys and attending school meetings

  4. WE Need YOU! • Be engaged in your child’s education by… • Helping with homework • Asking teachers how you can help at home or at school • Attending parent conferences and other school events • Requesting additional help from teachers to help your child succeed • Volunteering when you can
