  3. What is Title I? • Title I is a federally funded program. • The purpose of Title I is to help students succeed academically. • It is a supplemental program assisting teachers in their task of helping each child learn MPS and Arizona State Curriculum Objectives. • Stevenson Elementary’s Title I program is school-wide, addressing the needs of all children at our school and particularly those students in most need.

  4. Requirements of Title I • Stevenson must comply with State & Federal laws regarding Title I funding. Funds are used to support programs and materials for student progress. • The classroom teacher and the instructional assistants often work with small groups of children while other children are working independently.

  5. Academic Assessments to Measure Student Progress Teachers follow curriculum that is aligned with Mesa Public Schools standards and the Arizona ELA and Math Standards, while measuring, monitoring, and assessing student progress continually.

  6. Assessments • AZ MERIT - State test for 3-6th grades - results and parent information letters were sent home in early September. • DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) - K–6th grades • STARS - MPS district assessments throughout the year - K-6th grades, includes reading, writing, and math • AIMS Science - 4th grade only

  7. How can you get involved? • SIAC - Meetings Quarterly • PTO Meetings - One Tuesday a month • Family Literacy Classes at Stevenson - Mon, Tue, Thu - 8:30-11:30am • Volunteer in your child’s classroom!!

  8. Parent Involvement Opportunities • PTO • Parent Conferences • Assemblies & School Performances • Curriculum Night • ROOM 47 – Family Support Specialist • ROOM 46 - Family Literacy Classes • Communicate with school and teachers
