  1. Tambora Volcano Nicole Henrichsen Period 7

  2. *The largest and latest Tambora Volcano eruption was in spring, 1815, April 5-12. *The Volcano spewed ashes for 3 years and 6 months before it Actually erupted in spring of 1815. * Tambora is an explosive and doormat volcano. Tambora Eruption of 1815: *Over 90,000 people died directly from tambora’s eruption around the world.

  3. Biosphere : • The biosphere around Tambora • was effected in these ways: *The animals were affected in the way that the food chains were broken. The animals that could escape had nothingto eat because all the smaller animals and all the plants were burnt up. *The biosphere was also affected in the way that a lot of people died, over 90,000.

  4. Atmosphere: *Volcanic eruptions effect the atmosphere By releasing gases into the air that are harmful to the environment. *Tambora released nepheline-normative, leucite-bearing trachybasalt and trachyandesite into the atmosphere.

  5. Hydrosphere: *Volcanoes affect the hydrosphere in many ways. *If the volcano is located near a major body of water like a lake or ocean it can affect the water negatively. *When the volcano erupts it discharges Pollutions in the air that then go into the water.

  6. Geosphere: *When the Tambora Volcano erupted there were huge Earthquakes. *Earthquakes were felt as far as 500 kilometers Away Surabaya *The ground was covered in lava and ash Changing the areas rock make-up.

  7. What about Utah? *If this kind of eruption occurred in Utah anyone within 50 cubic kilometers Would die automatically from the lava. Then, if you were still alive, there’d be massive earthquakes Up to 1,400 Kilometers away. There is no way anything or anybody could survive After that because of the ash and other Toxic chemicals let off by the volcano.

  8. Other Facts: • *Tambora is on Sumbawa Island along the east Sunda Arc. • It lies 300 kilometers behind the Sunda Trench. • *The subduction zone is shallow and less than 200 kilometers deep. • *Tabora is a stratovolcano • *10,000 people died in the explosion. • 82,000 people died because of water pollution and from the • earthquakes. • “Three columns of fire rising into the great height” was said • about the eruption of April 11, 1815.
