  4. $200 What is genetics? Scientific study of heredity.

  5. $400 What is true-breeding? Same as self-pollination.

  6. $600 What are genes? Chemical factors that determine traits.

  7. $800 What are alleles? Term for different forms of genes.

  8. $1000 What are phenotype & genotype? Two terms: 1st term represents your physical characteristics. 2nd term represents your genetic makeup.

  9. $200 What is dominant? Traits that can be seen are considered to be this.

  10. $400 What is recessive? Traits that are hidden until 2 come together.

  11. $600 What is homozygous? These two genotypes TT & tt are considered this.

  12. $800 What is with a capital letter and lowercase letter; Tt? Only one way to represent a heterozygous genotype.

  13. $1000 What is hybrid? Offspring crosses between parents with different traits.

  14. $200 Who is Gregor Mendel? He developed many principles of genetics over the course of his research.

  15. $400 What is the Principle of Dominance? Some alleles are dominant and other alleles are recessive.

  26. $600 What is Large ears? In Martian’s, small ears are recessive to large ears. What is the phenotype for a Martian who is LL

  27. $800 What are BB or Bb? Knowing that blue eyes are recessive, these are the possible genotypes for a person w/brown eyes

  28. $1000 What pure-breeding and self-fertilized/pure-bred? These are two synonyms for homozygous.

  29. $200 What is homozygous? Organisms that have 2 identical alleles for a particular trait are said to be this.

  30. $400 What are the genotypes of the offspring? A Punnett square is only able to show you these.

  31. $600 What are two combinations; RY & rY? This many different allele combinations can be produced from a genotype of RrYY.

  32. $800 What is incomplete dominance? Situation in which one allele for a gene is NOT completely dominant over another allele for that gene.

  33. $1000 What is codominance? Crossing a black chicken BB, with a white chicken WW produces speckled offspring demonstrates this.
