  1. The use of RFID in the products of entertainment By Zahra Hachem and Mohammed Faizan

  2. What is the RFID ? • A device that has the ability to read or identify a product or an object • Mainly tracks and identifies objects • Used for security and identification, consumer entertainment and learning. • Has the ability to track from great distances

  3. How the RFID is beneficial • Able to track our merchandise or products • Better security of the products • Gives us an update of the location of our products • Shipping and delivery is more convenient and efficient • Prevents people from trespassing the company • Less vulnerable to damage

  4. Negative Impacts • The contents of an RFID tag can be read after the item leaves the supply chain which threatens the consumer’s privacy • Companies reputation can be greatly decreased due to social and ethical issues • Health issues might impact the consumer since the RFID gives radio frequency radiation • Much more expensive than the bar code system • Possibility of fraud when it is used for high security purposes

  5. Social and ethical issues • An RFID tag can be read at a distance without the knowledge of the individual • RFID tags are difficult to remove • RFID tags with unique serial numbers could be linked to an individual credit card number • The purchaser of an item will not necessarily be aware of the presence of an RFID tag or be able to remove it

  6. Privacy • The RFID can access to personal information due to the use of the credit card • Can locate the consumer’s location which invades his/her privacy • If a product was purchased from a store, and this person visits the store again, the RFID has the ability to identify the products details, such date, time it was bought and its price

  7. How It helps the consumer • The consumer interacts more with the toys • Learning can be developed by using this technology • If the product was misplaced or lost, the RFID can track its location • Allowing the parents to give an update of the children’s location while they are at work

  8. RFID associated with security • Each employee can be assigned with an RFID card so no one other than the employees can access to the company • Protects against shop lifting and theft • Has the ability to secure and track lost or misplaced products • Long range RFID tags such as UHF RFID can be less vulnerable to attacks

  9. RFID associated with entertainment • The entertainment product such as RFID enabled dolls which can help children to learn more • Through interaction the RFID product can build a good relationship with its consumer • Interaction with toys from far distances

  10. Conclusion • RFID is efficient and fast in tracking huge amount of products • Faster manufacturing of products • Better security for the company • Gives a sense of technology to children at an early age • Quickly accessible and enhances the entertainment products
