  1. Welcome to NEHS September 10, 2014

  2. National English Honor Society (NEHS) • The National English Honor Society (NEHS) is the only national organization exclusively for high school students and faculty who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments.  • We participate in many different events throughout the school year (Book Drives, Teacher’s Appreciation, ect.)

  3. Officers • President – Love Afrifa • Vice President – Angela Reyes • Treasurer – Andrew Beresford • Current Positions Open • Secretary • Historian –PR (Please plan to stay after the meeting to briefly discuss how to apply for these positions)

  4. Meeting Schedule • We meet Wednesdays after school at 2:45pm and possibly Thursday mornings at 6:45 am (if necessary) • 2 Meetings a month – One “Business” meeting and One “Social” meeting • Next Meeting Dates: • October 1 (Business) • October 22 (Social)

  5. Dues • Dues this year are $50 • Only if you are accepted into the organization will you pay your dues. • Your dues cover: • Your National Certification • Certification Card • Induction Certificate • T-Shirt • Social Events

  6. T-Shirt • We have an organization T-Shirt that is covered with your dues.

  8. Applications • Applications are now available. All forms are due September 19, 2014. • New Member Application • Returning Member Application • Officer Supplement • Applications will also be posted on our website www.cy-lakesnehs.weebly.com

  9. Interested in being an NEHS officer? • If you are interested in becoming an officer for NEHS please stay briefly. • If not, thank you for coming to our interest meeting and you are dismissed!

  10. Positions Available • We have 2 positions available: • Secretary • Historian –PR • Both positions require outside work • Perks of being an officer • Title • Officer Meeting Points • Special Opportunities • Leadership role for College Apps

  11. Secretary • Secretary’s Duties include: • Recording member points • Updating online files/ points every meeting • Keeping track of member point sheets

  12. Historian - PR • Historian’s Duties include: • Creating flyers and posters for events • Finding different point events • Notifying members on what is available for points • * Creating a Newsletter for every business meeting

  13. Officer Supplements • Officer Supplements are due September 19, 2014 with the rest of your application. • Interviews will be September 24, 2014 after school. • Sign ups for times are now available.
