  2. Following up on Body of Knowledge from prior years • This year practitioners were surveyed via the IAEM & the All Hands Emergency Management listservs • The survey instrument asked participants for the top ten “must reads” for emergency management

  3. 47 responses received 165 selections 76 list entries total Most respondents provided two to four selections (three to five in 2007) 32% of the “must reads” provided were specific to one respondent (single entries)

  4. Compare single entries: • 2009 (practitioners) 32% • 2008 (academia) 48% • 2007 (practitioners) 73% • 2006 (academia) 85% • Starting to see evidence of greater consensus

  5. Observations on this year’s list… • Principles of Emergency Management • a “must read” for 38% of respondents • Survey went to engaged & committed practitioners • Over time may see an educational curve impact on • this list – not readily apparent as of yet • Respondents that had less selections offered • day-to-day hands-on material
