  1. Entering the Kingdom of God Dr. Joseph Chang 8/31/2014 BOLGPC

  2. 神的國度 = 上帝的國度 = 天國 Kingdom of God = Kingdom of Heaven

  3. Kingdom of God=Kingdom of Heaven • 15"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15) • 17From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." (Matt 4:17)

  4. Kingdom of God=Kingdom of Heaven • 10The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?" 11He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. (Matt 13:10-11) • 10When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables (Mark 4:10-11)

  5. Kingdom of God=Kingdom of Heaven • Kingdom of Heaven is like mustard seed (Matt 13:31)= • Kingdom of God is like mustard seed (Mark 4:30-31) • You will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and prophets in the kingdom of God(Luke 13:28) • = 11I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 8:11)

  6. Jews, due to their respect to God, they call kingdom of God, kingdom of heaven. • 因為猶太人對神的尊敬, 他們把神國稱為天國.

  7. Adam ushered in here on earth the Kingdom of Man. • Jesus ushered in here on earth the Kingdom of God. • How can man enter into these two kingdoms? • Through birth.

  8. I.We are born into the kingdom of God. • There is only citizenship by birth, no citizenship by naturalization.

  9. Being Born Again • 3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." 4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

  10. Being Born Again • 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." (John 3:3-8)

  11. 藉著福音,一個人如何能夠被生入神的國度? • How can a man be born again through believing in the gospel?

  12. II. What is gospel? • 1Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried,

  13. II. What is gospel? • that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. (1Cor 15:1-8)

  14. 2 Elements of the Gospel • The 1st element of gospel—Jesus died for our sins • Proof— • The 2nd element of gospel—Jesus was resurrected. • Proof— • He appeared to the 500. • He appeared to James and all apostles. • He appeared to Paul. He was buried. He appeared to Peter and then 12.

  15. Following Jesus’ Example • 3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. (Rom 6:3-5)

  16. III. Gospel makes us being born again. • A. Gospel & Jesus • The death of Jesus • 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! (Phil 2:5-8)

  17. III. Gospel makes us being born again. • A. Gospel & Jesus • The resurrection of Jesus • 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11)

  18. III. Gospel makes us being born again. • A. Gospel & Us • 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. (John 3:14-15)

  19. Moses raised the snake

  20. Moses raised the snake • 4They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!" 6Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. (Num 21:4-6)

  21. Moses raised the snake • 7The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people. 8The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." 9So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived. (Num 21:7-9)

  22. 13基督既為我們受了咒詛,(受原文作成)就贖出我們脫離律法的咒詛;因為經上記著:凡掛在木頭上都是被咒詛的。(加 3:13)13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." (Gal 3:13)

  23. Gospel Trio • Gospel Presenter • Gospel listener • God—Father, Son, Holy Spirit

  24. 結論/Conclusion

  25. Conclusion • 29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29) • 35The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!" (John 1:35-36)
