Frida Kahlo began painting after she was severely injured in a bus accident. • Her father was a German photographer, and she had two sisters. • On September 17, 1925, Kahlo and her friend were traveling on a bus when the vehicle collided with a streetcar. As a result, Kahlo was impaled by a steel handrail, which went into her hip and came out the other side. She suffered several serious injuries, including fractures in her spine and pelvis. • When she was six years old, she had got an illness called polio. After she recovered, she had a limp to her walk. She had got a disease that damaged her right leg and foot.

  4. Accomplishments • On June 21, 2001, both the United States postal service and Servcio Postal Mexicano issued a stamp to commemorate Frida. She was the first Hispanic women to be honered with a U.S postage stamp. • Frida made many selfportraits. Her paintings was one of her many great accomplishments.

  5. Legacy • Frida left people knowing she was brave and motivated to do what she loved. After all those injuries, she continued to paint. She showed people that you should never let anything stop you from what you love doing.
