  6. Graphing Linear Inequalities Type of Line Where to Shade

  7. How to Determine the Type of Line to Draw

  8. Graph y > x - 2. 1. Graph the line y = x - 2. x 2. Since y >, shade above the line. y

  9. Graph y < x - 2. 1. Graph the line y = x - 2. x 2. Since y <, shade below the line. y

  10. Do you do anything different when the line is dotted rather than solid?

  11. Not Really

  12. Graph y > x - 2. 1. Graph the line y = x - 2, but make the line dotted. x 2. Since y >, shade above the line. y

  13. Graph y < x - 2. 1. Graph the line y = x - 2, but make the line dotted. x 2. Since y <, shade below the line. y

  14. Graph y > -½x + 3 Type of line: Solid Dotted x y

  15. Graph y > -½x + 3 Type of line: Solid Dotted x Shade ___ the line. y Above Below

  16. Graph y > -½x + 3 Type of line: Solid Dotted x Shade ___ the line. y Above Below

  17. Choose the correct inequality for the graph shown. A. y < 1/3 x + 2 B. y < 1/3 x + 2 x C. y > 1/3 x + 2 D. y > 1/3 x + 2 y

  18. Graph x > -2 1. Draw a dotted vertical line at x = -2. x 2. Shade to the right of the line. y

  19. Writing inequalities from a word problem Jesse has $45 to spend on new clothes. He buys t-shirts for $5 and jeans for $18.

  20. Writing inequalities from a word problem Karen earns as a $11 per hour as a waitress and $35 per hour as a tutor. She needs to earn at least $350 per week.
