ARE EXCLUDED Vegetable waste (agriculture, forestry, food processing industry) Fibrous vegetable waste, wood waste, cork waste Radioactive waste, Animal carcasses Waste from exploration and exploitation of oil and gas resources Experimental plants < 50 tonnes of waste per year CONTROL AND MONITORING Measurement equipment shall be installed and techniques used in order to monitor the parameters, conditions and mass concentrations VALENCIA 25-28 FEBRUARY 2008

OPERATING CONDITIONS Designed, equipped, built and operate to prevent emissions 850 ºC for two seconds 1 100 ºC for two seconds and destroy PCDD/Fs hazardous waste > 1% halogenated organic substances •Hazardous waste with net calorific value of at least 30 MJ/kg is excluded from requirements to hazardous waste ANY HEAT GENERATED SHALL BE RECOVERED AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE VALENCIA 25-28 FEBRUARY 2008

AIR EMISSION LIMIT VALUES • Emission regulations for dust, SOx, NOx, CO, HF, TOC, PCDD/Fs, heavy metals, Hg ANNEX II Limit values for co-incineration plant emissions to atmosphere Special provisions are laid down relating Cement kilns, Combustion plants and Other industrial sectors ANNEX V Limit values for incineration plant emissions to atmosphere Co-incineration of untreated mixed municipal waste VALENCIA 25-28 FEBRUARY 2008

PERMITS No incineration or co-incineration plant shall operate without a permit The General Directorate of Climate Change is the one to entitle to authorize the waste incineration and co-incineration activities (Recovery type R1) Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit Waste management permit VALENCIA 25-28 FEBRUARY 2008
