Assignment #2Engineering Sustainability in Manufacturing (25%) to be submitted Friday Week 12 (December 15th)Submit by Email (stephen.burke@ul.ie ) or Use Submission cabinet on top floor of Schrodinger. • Complete an Environmental Policy (ISO 14001) • Detail aspects, steps and approaches of an audit you would carry for ISO 14001 certification. • Choose one product and complete a process map. • Identify & describe the relevant acts of legislation. • Prepare a concise report for Top Management detailing suitable Objectives, Targets and Outcomes for ISO14001.

Other EMS’s • EMAS (Eco Management and Auditing Scheme) • Alternative to ISO 14001 to obtain formal certification. • Initially only covered Manufacturing (pre 2001) • No visible or measurable difference between EMAS and ISO14001. • Only European companies can be certified. • Requires a Public Environmental Statement.
