Working for a Healthier Tomorrow (2008) • Overall costs of working age ill-health in UK exceed £100 billion per year • Around 172 million working days were lost to sickness absence in 2007, at a cost to the economy of over £13 billion (CBI) • Presenteeism due to mental ill-health is estimated to cost £15 billion per year

  3. What is a HWWB coordinator? Promote understanding of and action on Health, Work and Well-being including facilitating an integrated approach to health and employment at a local level. Includes activity to work with NHS London, NHS bodies and other major public sector employers to engage the public sector and promote their role as HWWB exemplars.

Health, Work and Well-being Forum An enabling network for London’s NHS Trust and local authority workplace health professionals to share their knowledge on health, work and well-being interventions Quarterly meetings and an online forum for members Aims: 1) Representative across London 2) Build a hub of London knowledge and expertise 3) Work towards sub-regional HWWB Forums

  5. Terms of reference for the Forum • Knowledge and resource sharing • Facilitate networking • Support joint working • Develop and maintain an online ‘portal’ for information re health and work • Facilitate communication between key stakeholders • Link workplace health with other key agendas eg sustainability, health inequalities
