Peace and Conflict • B) Agree: Schools treat bullies too softly • Schools talk to them instead of punishing them • Bullies hurt innocent people, schools should hand them over to the police • Bullies should be kept away from their victims • Disagree: • They are victims of their family life • They need counselling not punishment • Bullies need as much help as victims • Other approaches are possible if valid

Peace and Conflict • D) If people were more religious, there would be no wars. 6 marks • Agree: • Some Christians believe they cannot fight in wars under the commandment “Do not kill” • Jesus said love your enemies and turn the other cheek • Most religions talk about respecting others so if you respect them you won’t fight them. • Disagree: • Many wars are started by religious people • Different religions think they are right about their relationship with God and will fight to have their view accepted • Some religions say they ,must fight if their faith is under attack

Peace and Conflict • B)Do you think wars are always bad? 4 marks • Agree: • Wars kill people and that is wriong • Wars damage the economy • War is against some religious teachings • Disagree • Sometimes it is the only way to stop evil being done • You must defend yourself from attack • It is the right thing to do when you want to free innocent people e.g Jews in WW2 • Other approaches are possible

Peace and Conflict • D)Religious people should always forgive. 6 marks • Agree: • Jesus said forgive your brother 77 times • Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of all sins for all people • If people do not forgive, God will not forgive them • Disagree: • If you keep forgiving people they will keep doing wrong • People need to be punished to learn what they have done wrong • You can’t forgive people who do horrible things • Other approaches are valid
