Art 1 • Art I is designed to teach the basic skills of drawing. • It will also help students to understand the wide variety of careers within the field of art. • Sketchbooks are used to do homework assignments as well as drawing practices. • At the end of the year the students are required to display art pieces for the End of the Year Art Show for the whole art department. Art 2 • Prerequisite: Art I • This is a continuation of Art 1 with a variety of subjects such as: • Pottery • Glass • Sandblasting • Perspective Drawing • Shading • Collages • Jewelry • Research • Required Drawing • Portfolio Review • The students are required to participate in: • Critiques, which is telling the positive and negatives of artwork • End of the Year Art Show • Patriotic Art Contest

  5. Drawing and Painting • Prerequisite: Art I and Art II or be a Junior or Senior • This is a beginning level class in semester one and an advanced level class during semester two. • Course will go through media of the 2D world with a concentration on architecture introduced via fieldtrips and research. History, element, structures, etc. will be covered. Two group critiques will be required so students learn to verbally express their ideas. • 12 pieces of art at the end of the year and end of the semester will be displayed in the End of the Year Art Show, which is part of the semester exam grade. • The students are required to participate in: • Critiques, which is telling the positive and negatives of artwork • End of the Year Art Show

  6. Pottery • Prerequisite: Art I and Art II or be a Junior or Senior • This is a beginning course in the first semester and an advanced course in the second semester. • This course will focus of forming pottery such as cups, hand building, wheel throwing and non-functional clay forms which can be made from the student’s imagination. • In this class you will be required to: do a Workbook, build a Portfolio, and participate in the: end of year Art Show, Critique and Art Heritage Show.   7. Advanced Placement Art • Prerequisite: Portfolio Review (art classes are not required but Art 1 and Art II are Recommended) • This course is designed to be an entry level college art class and is recommended for motivated individuals who work well by themselves. Work will range from 2D to 3D. A portfolio of 12 pieces will be made up and sent to be scored by judges, with the highest score being a 5 and lowest a 1. • This class is individualized to what the student chooses. But all students will work on the preparation and completion of professional portfolios along with working on technical points of “art”. • The students are required to participate in: • Critiques, which is telling the positive and negatives of artwork • End of the Year Art Show
