The Consulate • The Directory was overthrown by the coup of 18 ___1___ (Nov. 9–10, 1799), and the Consulate was established with Bonaparte as ___2___ . • The autocratic constitution of the year VIII was accepted by plebiscite. However they were appointed, not elected, and strict obediencewas enforced.
