  1. Terrorist

  2. What is terrorism? Do both sides practice it? How/when/who? • Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. No universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition of terrorism currently exists. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or ideological goal, deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians), and are committed by non-government agencies. Both sides have it Hammas from Palestine and Lehi is the one from Israel. It happen’s almost every day.

  3. What are the major terrorist groups in the region? • Lehi Fighters for the Freedom of Israel commonly referred to in English as the Stern Group or Stern Gang, was as a militant Zionist group founded by Avraham ("Yair") Stern in the British Mandate of Palestine. Its avowed aim was forcibly evicting the British authorities from Palestine, allowing unrestricted immigration of Jews and the formation of a Jewish state. • Initially called the National Military Organization in Israel, it was the smallest and most radical of Mandatory Palestine's three Zionist paramilitary groups (Haganah, Irgun, and Lehi), and never had more than a few hundred members. Lehi split from the Irgun in 1940 and by 1948 was identified with both religious Zionism (although most members were not Orthodox Jews) and left-wing nationalism (despite most members wanting to remain politically unaligned)… Hammas is a Palestinian Islamist political party that governs the Gaza Strip. Hamas also has a military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. The European Union, the United States, Canada,\ Israel and Japan classify Hamas as a terrorist organization.

  4. What has been/should be done to stop terrorism in Israel/Palestine? • The Middle East has been the focus of conflict for hundreds of years; and currently Israeli-Palestinian relations are dangerously unstable. As a result of religious and cultural differences, Jews and Arabs battle each other in an attempt to solidify their own sovereignty.  As a result of these unsettling times the President of the United States of America has assembled a Middle East Advisory Committee to inform him on the Arab-Israeli conflict.  You have been chosen as a member of this committee, and it is your job to assume one of the assigned roles and to report to the President the pertinent information that will help him better understand the nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to conclude whether or not a peace plan is resolvable.  Do not take this job lightly; the security of the world depends on a resolution.

  5. What are the goals of the terrorist groups? • Ideology and motivation will influence the objectives of terrorist operations, especially regarding the casualty rate. Groups with secular ideologies and non-religious goals will often attempt highly selective and discriminate acts of violence to achieve a specific political aim. This often requires them to keep casualties at the minimum amount necessary to attain the objective. This is both to avoid a backlash that might severely damage the organization, and also maintain the appearance of a rational group that has legitimate grievances.

  6. What terrorist obstacles are standing in the way of a peace settlement? • Lehi and Hammas they wouldn’t stop fighting they both want destruction and while they are around it will never stop!
