  2. Upgrade NEX-FS700 Firmware Confirming if the unit is applicable (Version Check) Select [Menu]  [Others]  [Version] on the camera. The firmware version is displayed. Check if “BODY” version is “Ver.1.00”.

  3. Preparing for firmware upgrade Please prepare the following items in addition to your camera. System requirements for a computer 【 Windows 】 [Supported OS] Windows 7 Windows Vista*1SP2 Windows XP*2 SP3 *1 Starter edition is not supported. *2 64-bit and Starter editions are not supported. [Other system requirements] - Hard disk space: 200MB or more - RAM: 512MB or more * Please close all other application software before upgrading the firmware. 【 Mac OS】 [Supported OS]Mac OS X v.10.5 – 10.7 * The 64-bit kernel is not supported. [Other system requirements]- CPU: Intel processor - Hard disk space: 200MB or more - RAM: 512MB or more * Please close all other application software before upgrading the firmware.

  4. Other items Power source for the camera AC adaptor and cable. AC-PW10(supplied) Note: The upgrade can be performed only when using AC adaptor. Cannot use battery power for this upgrade. USB cable supplied with the camera Note:Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.

  6. Upgrading the firmware (NEX-FS700) • - When performing the firmware upgrade, please use the supplied AC adaptor. Upgrade will not run when using battery power. • Do not remove the AC adaptor during the upgrade; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown. • Remove the memory card & FMU memory recording unit from the camera beforehand. 1. Download the upgrade file Click the below file to begin download.Please save the downloaded file onto the Desktop of your computer (recommended). Update_NXCAMFS700V2.exe【 File size : 37.4 MB (39,280,288 bytes)】

  7. 2. Start up Firmware Updater ・Close all currently running programs on your computer. ・ Double-click downloaded file to start up Firmware Updater

  8. USB CONNECT × USB CONNECT × Mass Storage Connected. USB Do not unplug the USB cable. Do not turn off the power. 3. Connect the camera to the computer • Camerapower on by AC adapter. • Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable. • Select on the camera screen. • Confirm “Mass Storage Connected” is displayed on the camera screen, click [Next] on Firmware Updater. Note: Never power off until finish the upgrading. • If the USB CONNECT screen dose not appear, please try the following methods. * Disconnect the USB cable from the camera, then reconnect the USB cable. * If there are another USB ports on the computer, reconnect the USB cable to a different USB port.

  9. 4. Check if the upgrade is required • Click [Next] to check version. • After confirming the current version on the screen, click [Next]. Current versionVer.1 Is a target version.

  10. Initialize this camera to update firmware. OK 5. Reset the camera • Click on the task tray at the lower right corner of the computer screen to stop the USB connection. • Touch“OK” on LCD to reset camera body, after then Click “NEXT” Note: Please keep the USB cable connected even after stopping the USB connection on the computer with the above operation. In case of Windows7, icon doesn’t appear. please go to next step. Note: Don’t push “RESET” button on the camera, please proceed to the next step.

Start the upgrade • After resetting, reconnection of the camera is verified, and the “Run the update” screen appears. • Click [Run] to start the upgrade.The progress bar appears while upgrading (approximately 5 minutes). Note: Never turn off the camera nor disconnect the USB cable while upgrading.

  12. 7. Complete the upgrade When the upgrade is completed, the “Finish the update” screen appears. Click [Finish] and disconnect the USB cable. Note: After finished the upgrade, turn off the camera, remove the AC adaptor, and then turn on the camera again.

  13. 8. Check the firmware version Follow the instruction below to confirm the firmware version is Ver.2.00.Select [Menu]  [Others]  [Version] on the camera. The firmware version is displayed.

  15. Upgrading the firmware (NEX-FS700) • - When performing the firmware upgrade, please use the supplied AC adaptor. Upgrade doesn’t work in case using battery. • Do not remove the AC adaptor during the upgrade; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown. • Remove the memory card / memory recording unit from the camera beforehand. 1. Download the upgrade file Click the below file to begin download.Please save the downloaded file onto the Desktop of your computer (recommended). Update_NXCAMFS700V2.dmg[File size : 41.3 MB (43,363,808 bytes) ]

  16. 2. Start up Firmware Updater • Double-click the downloaded file [Update_NXCAMFS100V2.dmg]. Do not connect the camera yet at this point. • [Update_NXCAMFS700V200] icon appears on the Desktop. • Double-click the [FirmwareUpdater] icon. • To load a kernel extension, the message prompts you to allow the application to make changes. Type the password for the administrative account.

  17. 5. Firmware Updater starts up.

  18. USB CONNECT × USB CONNECT × Mass Storage Connected. USB Do not unplug the USB cable. Do not turn off the power. 3. Connect the camera to the computer Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand. • Camerapower on by AC adapter. • Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable. • Select on the camera screen. • After confirm “Mass storage Connected” is displayed on the camera screen, click [Next] on Firmware Updater. Note: Never power off until finish the upgrading. • If the USB CONNECT screen dose not appear, please try the following methods. * Disconnect the USB cable from the camera, then reconnect the USB cable. * If there are another USB terminal with the computer, reconnect the USB cable to another USB terminal.

  19. 4. Check if the upgrade is required • Click [Next] to check version. • After confirming the current version on the screen, click [Next]. Current versionVer.1 Is a target version.

  20. Initialize this camera to update firmware. OK 5. Reset the camera • Press “OK” on the screen of camera. • Click “Next” on Firmware Updater. Note: Don’t press “RESET” button on the camera.

Start the upgrade • After resetting, reconnection of the camera is verified, and “Run the update” screen appears. • Click [Run] to start the upgrade.The progress bar appears while upgrading (approximately 5 minutes). Note: Never turn off the camera nor disconnect the USB cable while upgrading.

  23. 8. Check the firmware version Follow the instruction below to confirm the firmware version is Ver.2.00.Select [Menu]  [Others]  [Version] on the camera. The firmware version is displayed.
