  1. Pump & Motor Controls For Closed Loop “Hydrostatic” systems

  2. Control Overview System & Control Characteristics Pump Controls Motor Controls Team Exercise

  3. Expectations? What do you want from this training? “Pump and Motor Controls Training”

  4. Machine Functions = Systems • What is the function of the machine? • What problem is the customer trying to solve? (sales value) • Performance needs of sub-function? • What are the parameters we must control? • as • Speed / Ratio • Torque • Power • Position

  5. Examples • Propel (Single path) • Dual Path propel (track or wheel) • Large drum mixer • High rotational inertia load • Winch Drives • Conveyor drive • ???

  6. Brevini Pump Controls

  7. Hydrostatic Pump Controls • Direct Displacement Control • Servo Controls • With Feedback • Non-Feedback • Pressure Control • Relief Valve • Pressure Override • Speed Sensing

  8. Direct Displacement Control

  9. Pump Design Charge pressure setting Maximum pressure relief valve Stroke limiter Servo Piston Maximum relief valve Stroke limiter

  10. SH6V Pump Design Feedback linkage Displacement Control Servo piston Bushing Swashplate Piston Front bearing Rear bearing Input shaft Cradle bearing Slipper Charge pump Cylinder barrel Swasplate pusher

  11. Model Controls SH6V 70 HEN HLR SH6V 130 HE2 HIN HER HIR SH6V SERIES PUMP SH6V

  12. Controls with feedback Manual with lever HLR Hydraulic proportional HIR SH6V Electric proportional HER+HIR also available HER

  13. Controls without feedback HEN Electric proportional HIN Hydraulic proportional SH6V HE2 Electric 3 position HI2 Hydraulic 3 position

  14. Cut-off Valve Option Without cut-off Pressure cut-off Built in to 130 size Electric cut-off SH6V Pressure and electric cut-off Activating Cut-off will reduce pump flow

  15. Flow vs. Control Handle AngleHLR Control Neutral Deadband

  16. MANUAL LEVER CONTROL WITH FEED-BACK “HLR” • Repeatable, accurate displacement settings with a given input signal. • Handle override mechanism allows rapid changes in input signal without damaging the control mechanism. • The servo control valve and swashplate are spring centered: No input signal = no pump flow. • Pump will return to neutral after prime mover shuts down. • Pump will return to neutral if external control linkage fails at the control handle or if there is a loss of charge pressure.

  17. Hydraulic Proportional Control with FeedBack “HIR” • Precision parts provide repeatable, accurate displacement settings with a given input signal. • Simple – low cost design • Pump will return to neutral: • After prime mover shuts down • If there is a loss of input signal pressure • If there is a loss of charge pressure

  18. Electric Proportional Control with FeedBack “HER” • Precision parts provide repeatable, accurate displacement settings with a given input signal. • Simple – low cost design • Pump will return to neutral: • After prime mover shuts down • If there is a loss of input signal pressure • If there is a loss of charge pressure

  19. Hydraulic ON-OFF Control HI2 Electric ON-OFF Control HE2 • 3 Positions: Full A, No Flow, Full B • Pressurizing port Y1 or Y2 forces the pump swashplate to maximum displacement A or B. • Removing pilot pressure will result in the swashplate moving to zero displacement. • 3 Positions: Full A, No Flow, Full B • Energizing one of two ON-OFF solenoids (24V or 12V DC), forces the pump to maximum displacement A or B • Switching off both solenoids will result in the swashplate moving to zero displacement. 3 Position Controls
