  1. Bhagavad-Gita As It IsChapter 2Text 62-65.

  2. dhyäyato viñayän puàsaù saìgas teñüpajäyate saìgät saïjäyate kämaù kämät krodho ’bhijäyate “While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises.” Text 62

  3. Real sense control • Senses refrained from sense objects – mistaken as sense control. • Even greatest demigods are subjected to allurements of senses. E.e. Lord Shiva attracted to Parvati and Kartikeya’s birth and Saubari Muni and Vishvamitra Muni. • But real sense control means to engage senses in Krsna’s service.E.g. Haridas Thakur and Yamunacharya.

  4. Consequences of not fixing mind and senses on Krsna. Mind – central point for controlling senses. Improper understanding of sense control, and proper defination,präpaïcikatayä buddhyähari-sambandhi-vastunaùmumukñubhiù parityägovairägyaà phalgu kathyate E.g. Srila Prabhupada accepting money. krodhäd bhavati sammohaù sammohät småti-vibhramaù småti-bhraàçäd buddhi-näço buddhi-näçät praëaçyati “From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool.” Text 63

  5. Text 64 räga-dveña-vimuktais tu viñayän indriyaiç caran ätma-vaçyair vidheyätmä prasädam adhigacchati “But a person free from all attachment and aversion and able to control his senses through regulative principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy of the Lord.”

  6. Regulative Principles of Freedom • Krsna Conscious person is controlled in sensual activities. • All activities only for satisfaction of Krsna. • E.g. Krsna telling Arjuna to kill Karana in helpless condition. • Regulative Principles – not for restriction but for freedom, but not the freedom like football.

  7. prasäde sarva-duùkhänäà hänir asyopajäyate prasanna-cetaso hy äçu buddhiù paryavatiñöhate “For one thus satisfied [in Kåñëa consciousness], the threefold miseries of material existence exist no longer; in such satisfied consciousness, one’s intelligence is soon well established.” Transcendental to miseries of material life? Mercy - ??? And modern way of thinking. We depend on mercy of so many factors and nature and ultimately on mercy of Supreme Lord. Understanding this truth and accepting it, brings real happiness and freedom from conditioned life. Text 65
