  1. ‘Passion Fruit' Loving-kindness and Discipline from Father God

  2. God is Our Father • What is the true character of a father? • We all need to establish this in our spirits. • He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

  3. Exodus 34:6/7 • The Lord! The Lord! A God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth, keeping mercy and loving-kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin .. (Amplified Bible)

  4. “HESED” • LOVING-KINDNESS • Mercy, love, grace, favour, steadfast love, reliability and much more………. • It is strength, steadfastness and love combined…….

  5. “Hesed” relationships • Personal involvement and commitment in a relationship beyond the rule of law. • Huge generosity of heart. • “It is one of the most important terms in the vocabulary of Old Testament “(Vines)

  6. Hesed and Covenant • Covenant - the strongest form of relationship unto death. • Hesed is released between the parties in covenant. It carries the feeling of generosity and mercy.

  7. HESED COVENANT FAITHFULNESS

  8. God’s Character: Hesed! • Hesed is one of the most central characteristics of the character of a true father. • God offers his hesed to His people who need redemption from sin, enemies and trouble. • Psalm 136: almost every verse says,”His mercy and “hesed” endure forever…”

  9. Hesed for Eternity! • God’s hesed is even bigger than his covenant with his people and Israel. • It will continue even when the human covenant partner is unfaithful and must be disciplined…………….

  10. The other part ofExodus 34: 6/7!!!!!! • “………forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and fourth generation………………….

  11. Shock Horror! • Can this really be the character of a Father full of Hesed? • Yes - because he trains us through “MASAR” - DISCIPLINE!

  12. MASAR: DISCIPLINE • “Masar” teaches us how to live correctly in the fear of the Lord. • It trains us for abundant life! • Its fruit is honour, life, wisdom and the pleasing of The Father. • Lack of Masar is death, poverty and shame. • It includes correction, and suffering the consequences of rebellion and disobedience. • 2 Timothy 3:16

  13. Sowing and Reaping • What is sown, will be reaped. • Galatians 6:7 - “Do not be decieved and deluded and misled; God will not allow himself to be sneered at. For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.”

  14. Sin can be reaped on the Cross • Confession of sin and heartfelt repentance cause the sin and its curses to be “reaped” on the Cross, and finished forever!

  15. Generational Reaping • We reap the blessings of our family and our society every day - transport, water, sewerage, police, hospitals, schools etc. • BUT we also reap the EFFECTS of sin over our families and nations. • “Satan uses generational sin more than almost anything else, to afflict individuals, families, groups, churches, cities, regions and nations.” (John Sandford)

  16. What is generational iniquity? • An inherited “weakness in our walls” of protection. • An alcoholic father - the son has to “guard” himself in that area. • G. I. needs to be confessed and repented for so the curses are “reaped” on the Cross.

  17. The pathways of generational iniquity • 1.Physical Genes - patterns of sickness down the family line, eg heart problems, asthma etc. May be due to sinful practices - nearly always follows Freemasonry. • 2. Modelling the sinful patterns of behaviour of our parents, relatives.

  18. Pathways (2) • 3. Judging others - causes us to be judged. We become like what we are criticising in others. • 4. We then make “inner vows” (covenants) such as, “I will never treat my kids like my mother treated me.” And then we do!

  19. Pathways (3) • 5. The spirit realm sees the weaknesses in the walls of our bloodline, and tempts us in those areas. • Unrepented sin leaves open doors in the spiritual realm.
