  2. Father, We thank you for the opportunity to begin this new school year, and we ask that you bless the students, faculty, and student families that make our school a great place. We pray that you will guide us in all ways, so that we will seek your will in everything that we do. Amen

  3. The 1st iPad came out in April 2010 Currently consumers can buy the iPad (retina) and the iPad mini. Education Facilities may purchase the iPad 2

  4. Student iPads 2013-14 This year 6th graders will be issued a new iPad. 7th and 8th grade will get last years iPad2. All teachers have an iPad2 Our plan is to buy each 6th grade class the newest iPad so it will last thru 8th grade

  5. SRCS purchased AppleCare for all iPads. AppleCare is full bumper to bumper coverage for two years, with a max use of two complete destructions. AppleCare does not cover theft or loss.

  6. Management of iPads. -We will use Apple Configurator and Casper -Students will have a personal Apple ID that is set up by/with the parent -All iPad settings will be managed the Technology Manager.

  7. Benefits of Casper MDM • Local company, industry leader, over 2,000,000 devices managed • Manage settings for individuals or groups • Everything is done over the Air • Able to monitor every single iPad in the schools network. • Casper Suite will track purchasing and warranty information. • Gather a list of apps installed on each device, display network details, and schedule regular check-ins for additional inventory information. • Abiliy to remotly lock and/or wipe a device if lost

  8. Parent Management of the iPad -You control the internet in your house; if you have wifi and choose to give the password to your child they can go to the internet. The school cannot filter the internet outside the school. - Know your child’s password. -Your child does not need to bring the iPad home. -You may limit use at home. -Monitor usage, look at the installed apps and internet history

  9. To do Items - Set up an email that you can monitor for the student to use. A personal email is needed so we can set up accounts like DropBox, Planners, and other apps. - Create a Student/family Apple ID - Purchase a case

  10. Yes, it is legal for a student under 13 to have an Apple ID if set up by the parent. Apple ID Reasons each student will need an Apple ID. Each student will need to log into their account to download any apps that the school will push out. The end user (student/parent) will retain ownership of anything that is purchased. • Go to iTunes or search internet to create an Apple ID • Use a personal email like gmail, yahoo, etc. I recommend not using a Comcast or Charter email. • Fill out all information on the form, you will be able to delete the credit card once setup.

  11. Higher Ground iPad Case - $45 • highly protective folio style case • memory foam and stiffeners for protection • adjustable viewing / typing angles • elastic hand straps for secure holding while in use • perfect fit, silicone sleeve integrated into the case -It is your case, personalize it if you want.

  12. Please check the school website for all iPad info.

  13. What we learned from year one Biggest complaints from the student survey last spring Hard to type longer assignments on: We now have a middle school mini lab with 10 computers, and the Mac lab is almost always open. No flash: When asked about this it was strictly for internet games. Limited on Apps: Students will be able to download Apps. Teacher Training: This will happen

  14. Middle School Mini Lab 10 computers -Log into Google Apps and print out assignments -Type with a real keyboard

  15. Before a student will be issued an iPad, the following will need to be completed: Sign and return the user agreement, this will be available soon. Purchase a case or bring in a case from last year.

  16. AirPlay Demonstration. Students can project what is on their iPad to the projector in the classroom.
