Primary Survey • Airway with cervical spine stabilization and/or immobilization • Intubation, c-collar • Breathing – different than having an airway • 100% oxygen via non-rebreather mask • Circulation – hemorrhage, pulses, cap refill, • Insert IV lines, apply pressure to bleeding, blood typing • Disability – brief neuro exam, LOC, GCS, pupil response • Exposure/Environmental Control – remove all clothing to better observe • Provide privacy, limit heat loss

  3. Secondary Survey • Full set of vital signs/Focused adjuncts/Facilitate family presence • Vital signs • Focused adjuncts – ECG, O2 sat monitor, CXR, urinary catheter, NG tube, labs, diagnostic studies, tetanus • Facilitate family presence • Give comfort measures – treat pain, listen • History and Head-to-Toe assessment • Inspect posterior surfaces
