  1. 12.2.13 Biome Posters We will describe how different biomes support different varieties of organisms by preparing a presentation using poster boards. S • What do the arrows on the food web represent? • Which biome does this represent? • How many trophic levels would an energy pyramid of this food web have? • Which organisms compete for the same food source?

  2. P - How do ecosystems maintain their sustainability? Use text evidence to answer. • (10) Organisms and environments. The student knows that there is a relationship between organisms and the environment. The student is expected to: • (A) observe and describe how different environments, including microhabitats in schoolyards and biomes, support different varieties of organisms; • (B) describe how biodiversity contributes to the sustainability of an ecosystem; and • (C) observe, record, and describe the role of ecological succession such as in a microhabitat of a garden with weeds.

  3. A- We know different ecosystems support different types of life. Use your text book to record the following in your journal. 1. Name of your biome2. abiotic factors (climate)3. biotic factors

  4. C- Create a poster of your biome that explains how your biome supports different kinds of life. It must include the information from your section “A” Be ready to present!

  5. E - Exit Ticket Questions Using complete sentences, reflect in your journal. Be sure to include: • Three things you learned while working in a group. • How your group could have improved

  6. 12.3.13 ecosystem and organisms We will describe how different biomes support different varieties of organisms by presenting our poster boards. S Which ecosystem demonstrates more biodiversity? Which ecosystem demonstrates more sustainability? JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWERS! B A

  7. P - Explain the difference between a microhabitat and a biome, such as size and the life you would find on each? • (10) Organisms and environments. The student knows that there is a relationship between organisms and the environment. The student is expected to: • observe and describe how different environments, including microhabitats in schoolyards and biomes, support different varieties of organisms;

  8. A- Read pages 427 -437 for each subsection record the name of the ecosystem and how it supports the biotic factors that live there. For example : The __________ ecosystem can support organisms such as ___________ ______________ and _____________because it provides them with _______________________________.

  9. C-Complete the section review on pages 433 E-Complete the section review on page 437

  10. 12.4-5.13 Biome letter rough draft S- Penny and Calvin need to move a 100 N box the height of one meter. Penny says they should use ramp A because it will require less work. Calvin says they should use ramp B because it will require less work. Which ramp should they use? Which ramp requires more work? How much work will they do? A B

  11. P- how do different environments support different organisms? • (10) Organisms and environments. The student knows that there is a relationship between organisms and the environment. The student is expected to: • (A) observe and describe how different environments, including microhabitats in schoolyards and biomes, support different varieties of organisms;

  12. A- Complete the graphic organizer! C- write your rough draft

  13. E- Peer Review Read your letter to your partner. Be sure to read it out loud. Have your partner write down check your check list while you read.

  14. 12.6.13 Biome Stations • We will describe how different environments support different types of organisms by completing stations. • TEK 7.10A • S- Phil needs help completing the chart. Create the chart fill in the blanks with the correct word.

  15. P- Biome stations: Use the chart to complete the stations! You will turn this in for a grade… then you will get it back to tape in your journal so please leave space for it! A- Which biome has the most biodiversity? JUSTIFY your answer!

  16. C- Draw a picture of your favorite biome. Be sure to include at least three animal, three plant and demonstrate the climate (cold, hot, rainy) THEN EXPLAINyour picture using WORDS!

  17. E- Explain why loss of a natural habitat would be the most detrimental effect on biodiversity.
