  2. Homework Help Let’s spend the first 10 minutes of class going over any problems with which you need help.

  3. Notes on Radian Measure We’ve talked about measuring in degrees, but let’s talk about radians. A circle is 360 degrees all the way around. We also say it’s 2π radians all the way around. Where does this number come from? πrepresents the ratio of the circumference to the radius. C = 2 π r

  4. Notes on Radian Measure r If we have a radius of r, we could wrap it around 2π times before it loops around the whole circumference. This is where radians come from. Radians are a measure of how many radiuses we are around the edge of the circle.

  5. Notes on Radian Measure π/ 2 π 2π To convert from radians to degrees, simply replace πwith 180°. (This can work going the other way around too.)

  6. Notes on Radian Measure Example: Convert 5π/6 radians into degrees 5π/6  5(180°)/6 5(30°) 150°

  7. Notes on Forms of Linear Equations As we progress, you’ll see your problems sometimes ask to put equations in a certain form. Let’s go over the forms for linear equations (equations of lines). General Form Ax + By + C = 0 Slope-Intercept Form y = mx + b Double-Intercept Form x + y = 1 a b Point-Slope Form y – y1 = m(x – x1) Two-Point Form y – y1 = (y2 – y1)(x – x1) (x2 – x1)

  8. Group Practice Look at the example problems on pages 277 to 283. Make sure the examples make sense. Work through them with a friend. Then look at the homework tonight and see if there are any problems you think will be hard. Now is the time to ask a friend or the teacher for help! pp 283: 1, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
