  2. What causes an earthquake? • An Earthquake is a sudden tremor or movement of the earth's crust.

  3. What are the main causes of an earthquake? • There are two main causes of earthquakes • First, they can be related to explosive volcanic eruptions. They are common in areas of volcanic activity. • Second, they can be triggered by Tectonic activity with plate margins and faults. The majority of earthquakes world wide are of this type.

  4. How an earthquake works? • An earthquake is what happens when two blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another. The surface where they slip is called the fault or fault plane. The location below the earth’s surface where the earthquake starts is called the hypocenter, and the location directly above it on the surface of the earth is called the epicenter.

  5. Where do earthquakes occur mostly? Why? • The single region of the earth that has the most frequent earthquakes is Japan. • There are mostly volcanoes and volcanoes cause earthquakes.

  6. Can an earthquake be predicted? If so how? • Earthquakes can not be predicted because there not a weather changes or anything like that that’s something the earth controls.

  7. What effect does earthquakes have on the economy of the area it hits and globally? • The major economic consequences of earthquakes result from damage to elements of the built environment that are essential to the operation of the economic activities in the impacted region.
